Queen of soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin, who also is the GodMother of the late singer Whitney Houston. Was scheduled to speak and performance at Whitney’s funeral service but the queen of soul pulled a no show. Not to many explanations were given to why she wasn’t there – but now, Aretha released a statement saying she wasn’t there due to health concerns.
ExtraTv reports that, the queen of soul said in a statement: “Regretfully, I am so sorry that I was unable to be with you at Whitney’s service today. I had every intention of being there.” She went on saying: “But unfortunately I had terrible leg spasms and locked leg muscles until 4:00AM this morning following my concert last night, which I’ve been having for the last few days. I feel it necessary and very important to stay off my leg today as much as possible until concert time this evening. My heart goes out to my dear friend Cissy, Dionne, Bobbi Kristina and the rest of the family. May God keep them all. Aretha & the Franklin Family”
R&B singer Alicia Keys was the one who took Aretha’s spot, paying tribute and performing for Whitney’s friends and family at the funeral.


Whitney Houston was laid to rest at her hometown Newark, New Jersey this past Saturday, with family and close friends all-gathered to pay their last respect and celebrate the late singer’s incomparable music career. Her funeral was broadcasted internationally by the Associated Press, who Houston’s family sold the footage to to raise funds for the tragic singer’s daughter.
